Bill Maher kicks out 9/11 conspiracy theorists

Watching the live (but not on the West coast) Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO last night was more interesting than usual, when 9/11 conspiracy theorists from the audience started shouting in the middle of the panel segment. Bill Maher took matters into his own hands, shouting them down and helping security kick them out. Here’s the video.

I try to watch the show as much as possible. Last night's episode was one of the better one's this season. There was also a really good one a month or so ago with Drew Carey as one of the guests. The more interesting thing than the protesters though was the interview with the Russian chessmaster and presidential candidate. That guy's really smart and well-spoken.

it's hard to tell about kasparov. the 60 minutes profile was very convincing on both sides (ie., that he is either a) a patriotic political dissenter fighting against near-despotism or b) a paranoid rabble-rousing egomaniac with delusions of grandeur who has no real sense of what's going on in russia.)

re: the clip.

a) i hate the whole concept of "911 truthers," i really do. the gov't fucks us over in so many real, actual and measurable ways, that we don't need to make shit up.

b) having said that, won't we all feel stupid in 50 years, when documented proof is discovered that cheney did in fact order the attacks and bush sort of objected but sort of not really.

c) i'm not a big fan of bill maher, and for the first 70 seconds of the clip, i thought his "owning" of these idiots was really lame. "hey, shut the fuck up!" is not my idea of "owning" someone.

d) but THEN, he said "you're in the AUDIENCE. it comes from the latin TO LISTEN." and he won me over.

New York Elissa and I watched it on the East Coast and were muched amused. Are you telling me they cut this out for the west coast feed? Where did you read about it? It was really awkward trying to watch the panel get back on track after those idiots interupted. Why in the world did they choose Maher's show of all places? And why are there so many idiots in this world who believe 9/11 was done by Bush and co. or that the moon landing was faked? I love live TV for just this reason. Fight the real enemy.

well, c'mon, the moon landing WAS faked. duh.

No, they kept it in the West coast feed, and that's where I saw it.

As in the show was live but not on the west coast, I guess he meant.

That really didn't do much to get converts to the Sept. 11 conspiracy theory movement. Well, assuming they want to NOT look crazy or juvenile.
