The Riddim Method: Lemon Red
The Riddim Method’s Lemon-Red mix. I’m not in the habit of posting DJ mixes here, but this one, mixing “dubstep, hip-hop, dancehall, bass, merengue, soca, bmore, rai, dub, electro, doo-wop, ragga house, and boston bounce, among others,” is particularly good. Plus, they mix in the theme song from the greatest television show ever, HBO’s The Wire.

Who would want to bomb Sin City?
A few months ago, many Las Vegans were shocked to hear that the federal government dropped Las Vegas off of a list of major cities receiving anti-terrorism funding. Now it turns out that the Department of Homeland Security made at least 25 errors when making their evaluation, including asserting that Las Vegas has no military bases or convention centers (it has both). Feeling secure?

Did you know that there are seven medical marijuana patients recognized by the federal government? The Feds even supply them on a monthly basis with marijuana grown at the University of Mississippi.

South Park, Uncensored
Here is the uncensored (and apparently legit) clip from South Park :
Interview with Darren Aronofsky
Interview with director Darren Aronofsky about his upcoming film The Fountain. This isn’t brand new, but I just read it today. My favorite part: David Bowie may compose a third Major Tom song (after “Space Oddity” and “Ashes to Ashes”) with Clint Mansell for the soundtrack. (via kottke)
South Park on censorship and fear
Last night’s episode of South Park was one of those rare but shimmering moments when the show is both funny and politically relevant. At issue: Family Guy, and the cartoon portrayal of the prophet Muhammad of Islam.

Remember Joe Kittinger, the guy who skydived from space? Boards of Canada have released a music video of Dayvan Cowboy based on the footage of his jump.

It’s being reported that the Cherry Nightclub, part of the soon-opening Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas suburbia, has urinals in the men’s room shaped like a pair of women’s lips. I call them “oranals.” Tasty. (via mb)

Update on Nevada Explosion
Update on the 700 ton June 2 explosion on the Nevada Test Site. It’s no longer clear that the test is non-nuclear, which I can’t quite understand. Don’t we have a Test Ban Treaty? In any case, I still hope to see the explosion, even if they’re now saying it won’t be visible from the city.
