In-n-Out Burger may be coming to the East Coast sooner than you expect, but the integrity/quality of the establishment may be lost in the process.

Summers to Resign?
Rumors are flying around that Lawrence Summers, the president of Harvard whose signature is likely in your wallet, will resign today. This after years of angering the Harvard Black community (re: his confrontation with Cornel West) and its female community (re: his remarks on women and science). So what finally pushed him over the line?

Edward Lazarus dishes out some bad-tasting medicine, addressing why progressives are having such a hard time gaining credibility when it comes to national security. I can’t say I agree with all of his arguments, but he’s pushing the debate into the right direction.

The mysterious Moving Rocks of Racetrack Playa. I learned about this scientific puzzle while researching a possible trip to Death Valley National Park.

Michael Brown: “Yes, I was a crony…”
Former FEMA director Michael Brown was on Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO last night, looking confident after finally getting a week of semi-positive coverage in the media. Bill directly asked him if he was a crony, and his answer can be seen in this post’s title, admittedly with the “as far as” context removed. Six months later, and Brown is looking a lot better, and Bush a lot worse.

Just to spread out the meme even more: the online buzz is that the reason the Cheney gun accident was withheld from a police investigation and the public is that there was something to hide. Theories abound, from the involvement of alcohol to improper relationships.

What do white supremacists Prussian Blue (“the Olsen twins of hate”) do when they’re having fun in the snow? Turns out not much different than what you or I would do… except for their snowman.

The crazymonk.org Banner
I’ve been asked a few times where the pictures on the banner come from, so I thought I’d take the time to answer here on the blog. All the pictures but two were taking with my ancient 2 megapixel Canon Powershot A40 – the others (marked with an *) were taken with my brother’s much nicer 6 megapixel Canon EOS-10D (I think). Yes, I need a new camera.

An interesting set of music videos by Keith Schofield. Check out “When I Wake Up,” about the E.T. Atari game, “Pi,” and the Notwist video of “One with the Freaks.”

Bush says one thing during the SOTU, his administration backs off the very next day. I’m predicting that in 20 years, the President will be able to make up fantastical tales during the SOTU and the media won’t blink an eye. Um…
