The evolution of the fight scene
Slate has an interesting video slide show of the evolution of the cinematic fight scene. I share much of the sentiments of the writer, who isn’t fond of the “drunken-camera” style that has emerged in the past decade or so, although I’ve grown tolerant of it out of necessity.

I HATE shakey-cam. The only movie it was ever appropriate in was Saving Private Ryan, and even there it grew old pretty quickly. I want to see what's happening! It's just lazy directing (cinematography?) to use the shaky-cam and the quick cuts rather than actually staging the full scene.
Man, I want to watch Children of Men again.
I actually really like the style of greengrass. The Bourne movies were great. The hand-to-hand stuff in Batman was indecipherable. Gladiator was the worst.
