To promote the upcoming Simpsons movie, twelve 7-11’s have been turned into Kwik-E-Marts, including one in Henderson, NV, not too far from where I live. Via kottke, here’s a thorough phototour of one of the stores.

There is one right around the corner from my place. I noticed it last night before I knew about this promotion. At first I thought the 7-11 had gone owner operated or lost its franchise rights or whatever and was now tempting a lawsuit. Then I saw Marge and Comic Book Guy (?) painted on the side and knew it was a promo. I plan to check it out today to try some Buzz Cola.

I'm going to check out the one in LA when I get a chance.

I'm disappointed that they decided not to market Duff Beer. I understand why they did it, but it's sad. Duff Beer is clearly the most exciting product, after Frosted Krusty O's. The picture of the box is amazing, with all the dirt and animals in the cereal! Great!

Wait, Rodenator, where's the one down here? His link is magically unclickable.

Went to the one in nyc today. Really cool. I had some Buzz Cola. It tastes just like Coke, but there is nothing on the can that indicates that it is. So either it's a great knock off or it's just Coke. But cool can.

i love how excited we all are about a promotion for a movie based on a tv show that hasn't been remotely good in almost 10 years.

can't wait to be out in LA when it opens!

It's true jbg. I haven't watched an episode of what passes for the Simpsons these days for at least 6 years, if not more. And the moments I do see pretty much suck. But when it was good, it was oh so good. And I hope that some of that, somewhere, translates to the big screen. God it used to be good.

i remember the years (2001-2002? seasons 10-12?) when i still watched religiously each and every week, even though i HATED it. i remember the fights i got into with friends who still thought it was good in 2002.

needless to say, thanks to greed and father time, i've finally won the argument.

but yeah, when it was good, it was incredibly good.

funny thing though: one pleasant side effect of the increasing shittiness is that episodes i THOUGHT were bad in 1999-2000 are now CLASSICS by comparison.

i saw a full simpsons preview before "ratatouille" (which was awesome). the jokes were all ripped off of warner brothers, and the visual style seemed like futurama's 3-D brought to springfield.

speaking of which: when are the new futurama episodes coming out?

I had some Buzz Cola. It didn't taste quite like Coke to me. The ingredients listed are the same as Coke, but it has more calories and less sodium. It's a darn good soda. Watch it be RC and I start drinking that.

Here is what I can find about buzz cola.

Read this article.

http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2006/05/15/cottboss.html

The money quote: Some of the items, like Radioactive Man comics, were readily available before the promotion. Pico, the 7-Eleven consultant, said the Krusty O's were made by Minnesota-based cereal maker Malt-O-Meal, and the Buzz Cola was made by Toronto-based soft-drink maker Cott. The items are being sold at 7-Eleven stores nationwide.

I went their web site. Here is what it said "brands including Cott®, Royal Crown, Vintage®, Vess® and So Clear in over 60 countries."

So it just might be RC cola.
